FMC’s Activities in January of 2012

In January 2012, FMC was closed 8 days for Lunar New Year. However, its operation was maintained stable with a rise compared to the same period last year.

Concretely, in January 2012, FMC processed 436 MT of shrimp products (that of the same period last year was 373 MT) and achieved $6.3 million in turnover (that of the same period last year was $4.4 million).
FMC finished financial audits on February 11, 2012. However, Annual General Meeting will take place in the beginning of April because FMC’s Administration Board will attend International Boston Seafood Show 2012 in the beginning of March.
Vietnam Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development had official notice to list Enrofloxacin to prohibited antibiotics in shrimp farming. Nevertheless, this kind of antibiotic had been used popularly in shrimp farming causing a mass of shipments from Vietnam to Japan were shipped back due to over permitted level of such antibiotic residue especially in the end of last year and beginning of this year. The situation has done many frozen shrimp exporters including FMC considerable damages, but with the latest notice from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the situation is expected to be overcome soon.
