FMC’s Activities in the first quarter of 2011

In the first quarter of 2011, FMC has processed 1,032 MT of shrimp finished-products. Concurrently, 1,243 MT of shrimp products (including inventory quantity) and 274 MT of vegetable products were consumed. Total turnover reached USD 14 millions equivalent to 165% compared to the same period of 2010. Profit is estimated approximately VND 4 billions.

In spite of the difficult context of raw material due to off-season, FMC obtained an increase of 25% in production, 65% in turnover, 66% in  profit compared with the same quarter last year. To have the achievement, FMC actively stocked up semi-finished products in combination with selectively purchasing raw material from market (despite higher price, there would be no unnecessary shrimp sizes in stock).
In February, FMC’s General Director and the First Vice-General Director had courtesy visit to customers in Japan to discuss and unify consuming plan of 2011. End of this March, FMC’s General Director and the First Vice General Director attended International Boston Seafood Show and visited the US customers to survey market for developing its business plan more effectively.  The General Director assessed this is the year in which FMC’s Board of Directors has a very good preparation to speed up the company’s development. Some aspects such as material facilities, labor force, and marketing works are well prepared.
However, 2011 shrimp season started disadvantageously. In the first stocking, shrimps were damaged severely on a large scale in Mekong Delta. In general, farmers will fill up the damaged areas, but farmed shrimp season will come later than expectation.
